Dear Cabana,
We had a party in honor of you seeing us! It all started with Taylor O’Brian calling me on a lonely day in February, 2024. I googled him…while listening to his awe and wonder asking if we really had an “all original”, 1907 Opera House.
Kelly, Colleen, Liz, Taylor…days we will never forever!
He is famous. His photography is from all over the world and published in big places, of course I said he could visit with his two companions, Liz Gardner and her friend, Kelly.
They came the next day. For a thing called test photos. I gave the tour of my life. Taking them everywhere. Then poof! Gone. After almost eight hours of snapping his little camera.
He called them test photos. He sent to you and you told Taylor to come back for the “real” photos! They did! Four Months later they were back and stayed two nights and three days! We had the time of our lives. Every time I peaked in on them, he and Liz were almost giddy with joy and excitement.
Liz went everywhere…found hidden treasures and lifted and unveiled them as if they were the holy grail. The trust that her and Taylor for telling a story is magical. They dance and have a radar that beams into the air and all I hear is “click”, “click”, shuffle, swish, “Click”…in three days done!
Then poof! Gone again. It wasn’t until they drove up in late October that I believed what they tried to tell me, that we made your Print Magazine! They hand delivered the $500 Limited Edition to the cafe’. I almost passed out!
When Liz sent me this is was almost midnight…I watched it over and over, until 8:00am the next morning…by nine am they were at my door with my very own copy!
Then it was onto planning the big unveil for our community! This is where Liz Shined, it is her eye that sees what holds emotion! She has a way of melting into the story and pulling what I have been trying to do for almost 22 years and she placed and put it with all her heartfelt details, from window coverings to a Movie Maker to a Ballerina, to program to the crescendo of a real Opera Singer…surrounded by candles and flowers…
Cabana, we worked all day and into the night getting ready for the big day! CHRIS & CHRIS, entertained us!
To say that Taylor and Liz blew the roof off of Staples, MN is an understatement. You and your Staff at Cabana can be proud of your pick, the “Editors Pick” of Issue #22. We held you in high esteem with each detail and hand selected guest.
They came from all over our state. Ambassador Members, City Officials, to local and best of friends. I ordered the best of the best for our buffet, delivered by Angie from Bricks and it was a hit! Everyone raved about the food and eating in all candle light was a romantic night with all of us falling in love with history.
I had my number one, my Son and Jenna by my side to work and waltz with my sister, cousin and waiting in the wings for the final send off was two hours of LIVE MUSIC by none other than my co-founder and twin brother, Chris Frost on keyboards and his partner and friend Chris Bremmer, on the guitar.
It was this final act in the New York Room that let us hold our hearts as one as we all let this night sink in.
You, Cabana, See us. You love our “All Original” Opera House just the way it is. You validated how rare this place truly is.
Thank you,
Forever.
Sincerely,
Colleen and Adam Frost - Caregivers of the Batcher Block Opera House
